Dr. Wood is the Assistant Director of Extension for Agriculture and Natural Resources for the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky and is actively involved in the horse industry at the local, state, regional and national level. He was president of the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) in 2017 and 2018. He is an APHA judge and has judged the APHA Youth World Show, European Paint Horse Championships and the Paint Horse Congress as well as many other shows. He has given equine clinics in France, Germany, Australia, and Mexico. He is an APHA Professional Horseman and remains an active exhibitor and breeder of Paint Horses. He was a 2023 inductee into the APHA Hall of Fame recognizing Dr. Wood’s significant contributions to the Pain Horse industry. As the Assistant Director of Extension for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Kentucky, he provides visionary leadership for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Horticulture agents, associates, extension specialists that develop and implement Extension programming across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
